Women Street Vendors in La Paz

Cecilia Barja Chamas' and Karina Weinstein's summer research project is aimed at proposing small, low cost interventions that provide concrete improvements in the standard of living for women street vendors in La Paz. They would like to use their work to help develop local and national policies to benefit small-scale entrepreneurs. Chamas and Weinstein immersed themselves in the lives of women street vendors in La Paz, Bolivia in order to understand the challenges of their daily lives. Their field research focused on the women street vendors' relationship with their families, colleagues, microfinance institutions, local government, the national government, and street vendor union leaders.
