Jiang, Yaoping

Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, People's Republic of China


Dr. Jiang began his career in the Bureau of Telecommunications in Nanning, Guangxi Province, in 1970. He is currently the vice minister of the Ministry of Commerce with responsibility for e-commerce policy, processing trade, imports and exports, and the global trade of electronic and machinery products.
Other positions include:

  • Vice Minister of the Ministry of Information Industry with responsibility for China’s WTO membership negotiations in the fields of IT and fixed/wireless communications.
  • Director General, Department of Policies, Laws and Regulations, Ministry of Information
  • Director of Information Security Management Office, Information Work Leading Group of the State Council
  • Director, Posts and Telecommunications Administration, Guangxi

Dr. Jiang is originally from Shanghai. He earned an M.B.A. from the Norwegian School of Management and a Ph.D. from the Harbin Institute of Technology.
