Challenging injustice has been the driving force of Professor Sobhan’s intellectual life. During the seminar, he will address a variety of political and economic causes of injustice and his recommendations for lessening the poverty inducing aspects of globalization.
Professor Rehman Sobhan has served as a Professor of Economics at Dhaka University; Envoy Extraordinaire of the Bangladesh government in 1971; Member, Bangladesh Planning Commission; and Director General, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies. He was the President of Bangladesh Economic Association and Chairman of the Board of the Grameen Bank. He is the author of a large number of books, monographs, and articles published in professional journals.
